Starter Kit 1
Starter Kit 1 introduces the basics of infantry movement and combat which forms the basis for the entire game. After you have played all the scenarios in this gem you will have the basics down and can move on to started kits 2 and 3. This kit contains everything you need to play the scenarios provided. In all fairness you don’t need starter kit 1 to enter the Advanced Squad leader world but it is a strong cornerstone. At this point in time Starter Kit 1 is out of print and is only available from third party providers which is why the price is elevated. Starter Kit 2
Starter Kit 2 continues and adds to the ASL starter kit series where starter kit 1 left off. While it has infantry only scenarios like starter kit 1, it also introduces the new players to guns and the to hit process which is another cornerstone of the Advanced Squad Leader series. Starter kit 2 has everything you need to play the scenarios included in the kit. It has all the rules from starter kit 1 as well as all the additional rules involving guns. Like Starter Kit 1 Starter kit 2 is out of production and we do not have a reprint date available. It is only available from third party providers which is why the link is provided below.

Starter Kit 3
Starter Kit 3 continues where starter kit 2 left off. It continues with the infantry and to hit rules but adds in the basics of vehicles. Now the new ASL player can drive the king tiger into battle and get the real feel of what ASL is all about. Thankfully starter Kit 3 is still in print so while on line they can be up to 150 dollars, we have them in stock at J and D hobbies for 36 dollars. You can enter Advanced Squad leader with just the purchase of Starter Kit 3. It has all the rules necessary and to play and everything you need to play the scenarios included in the kit.
Decision at Elst
If you have played all the starter kit scenarios and want to go farther you can get Decision at Elst. This is a historical campaign game for the Advanced Squad Leader starter kit series. Like the other starter kit games this set has everything you need to play this great game. This set is a great game and you get a lot for your money. Historical Advanced Squad Leader is a new experience even for the experienced ASler. It will give you a lot of play time. The starter kits are a great way to get into the Advanced squad leader hobby and will give hundreds of hours of fun even if you do not go any farther into the system. Most people do however go on to continue into this great game system. If you do then you will enter a gaming community which is vibrant and growing every day.
